Ich treffe in Kenia immer wieder Männer, die heißverliebt sind und glauben, in irgendeiner der vielen Bars, ihre große Liebe gefunden zu haben. In Mails, aus Deutschland, wurde ich schon oft gefragt: “Kennen Sie diese …. Frau?” Diese Mails drücken dann die ersten Zweifel aus und das mehr, als berechtigt.
Die Frauen, die Sie, vor allem abends und nachts, treffen sind Prostituierte, hier Malayas genannt.
Viele von ihnen arbeiten Hand in Hand mit der Polizei und sind wirklich nur darauf aus, mehr oder weniger schnell, an Ihr Geld zu kommen.

Three people under the auspices of Mombasa pastor’s fellowship have filed an application in the High Court seeking the definition of what amounts to contentious issues in the draft constitution. In their application, Bishop Joseph Kimani, Reverend Musyoka Nzui and Ms Agnes Mbinya said the court ought to look at what amounts to contentious issues noting that the constitutional review Act of 2008 does not define them.

Thousands of farmers in Malindi district have rejected the introduction of a tax levy on agricultural land to be effected from next year. The farmers petitioned councillors to reject the levy they claimed had been introduced under the Valuation Roll programme.

The government on Friday ordered security operators in the coast province to be vigilant and maintain security along the 600-mile Kenya-Somalia border to ensure illegal immigrants do not enter the country. Internal Security ministry Prof George Saitoti said infighting in Somalia between government forces and militias including Al-Shabab, which is believed to have links with the Al-Qaeda terrorist network, had complicated the country’s security situation.
