Drugs Seized At JKIA

Anti-narcotics detectives have arrested a suspected drug trafficker at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and recovered drugs worth millions of shillings. The suspect identified by the detectives as Scola Namunyu Mwangi was nabbed as she collected the consignment that had arrived from Tehran, Iran. Police intelligence said the drugs were part of a consignment of heroin worth 80-million shillings that was to be shipped in from Iran. Michael Mayaka with that story.

PSC Discuss Devolution

Finally some white smoke could be billowing out of the Parliamentary Select Committee on constitutional reviews retreat in Naivasha. The team has after long hours of deliberations and political concessions resolved the sticky chapter on devolution. The 26 members have settled on a two-tier model of devolution; the Central Government and 47 counties as the units of devolution. And as Abdi Osman reports they have also agreed on a 47-member senate, and identified a formula of channeling funds to the counties.

Commuters reject Minister’s fare suggestion

After weeks of silence over the ferry crisis, Transport Minister Chirau Ali Mwakwere is now suggesting that commuters pay for the service in Likoni. The minister says a modest fare for the ferry service would ensure the government buys a new vessel every five years. But as Yassin Juma reports, Mwakwere’s one shilling suggestion is not going down well in Likoni.
